🥳No degree? No problem now for Walmart!🥳Walmart has announced they are moving away from degree-based requirements for a lot of their positions, even for jobs at the very top of their #corporate structure.👔 I for one am a huge advocate for professional and life skills being arguably more relevant than a #degree someone completed at the start of their #career.🙄 A degree does portray that the candidate has a certain level of academia, can work as an individual contributor and as part of a team, and can work to set deadlines and hit them. But does it replace 5-10 years of hands-on experience within relevant positions? I have seen many candidates with 10 to 20 years of experience rejected from a #technical role as they 'don't have a bachelor's degree'😴, but realistically, they'd likely be the most qualified candidate for the job.🥇 A lot of degree requirements in job postings also do not specify in what area, so how does a degree in #Sports or a degree in Fine #Art provide any benefit to employers when hiring for a technical role?🤔Rant over!🤣

This CS graduate from a tier 3 college got placed in Walmart by off-campus placement! 🤯Hailing from Ludhiana, Punjab, Kunika Malhotra is a CS graduate who made it to Walmart as a software engineer. Perseverance and belief in capabilities:😮 I had applied to 240+ applications at Walmart, interviewed for 6 roles.I was not a good fit for some, while some roles were closed due to restructuring.🤓 Being through the taxing job search journey, the takeaway I would like to provide is to be consistent in your approach, and hard work delivers results. 85%+ of the roles were where I was a good fit due to my combination of MS + MBA, and the rest were the roles I applied to only on the basis of my MBA.This is to showcase that applying in bulk is not the key, but keep applying to roles where you are a good fit basis the basic qualifications, and show interest by reaching out to the recruiters and managers on LinkedIn.😎 I am confident that if I can do it, so can you. One tip I always give to connections seeking help, is the importance of having "dream companies". Have those 5 (varies per person) companies you want to desperately get into, keep networking and conversing frequently with 5-7 employees per company (from your desired domain), and check daily for new openings.📈 Walmart is a great place to grow yourself as an individual and explore the depths of retail landscape. Hiring in 2024 is like a trip to the grocery store. 🛒🥦🍞Let me explain. You enter with a list, but you always end up with things you didn't plan for or items that are out of stock (niche requirements). 📝You're looking for ripe avocados (experienced professionals), but all you find are hard, green ones (fresh graduates). 🥑You want the best quality, but you're also watching your budget. You're hoping for a quick in-and-out, but you end up spending hours reading labels (resumes). But hey, at least there's always free samples (interns). You stand in the checkout line,hoping for a smooth transaction,but the cashier needs a price check on half your items (background checks and references). 💳And just when you think you're done, the checkout line (onboarding process) is longer than the Great Wall of China.
