SUNWAY partners with the Malaysian AIDS Foundation (MAF) for its flagship initiative #SunwayforGood Raya Cheer, where nearly 20,000 beneficiaries in the B40 segment will receive essential aid like rice, bubur lambuk, groceries and baskets -meal.
The Sunway-MAF partnership, in particular, is expected to reach hundreds of families affected by HIV/AIDS with essential food items and cash assistance across Malaysia.
This long-term partnership also supports people living with HIV (PLHIV) B40 in Sabah and Sarawak through the Sunway Health Outreach Program for Everyone (HOPE).
Sunway Group Vice President Tan Sri Razman M. Hashim said, “Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is in our DNA, and our #SunwayforGood initiatives have reached over half a million beneficiaries. since its creation in 2017.
“This year, in our quest to be more inclusive, we have entered into a long-term partnership with the Malaysian AIDS Foundation.
“Each program of our #SunwayforGood initiative is a chance for us to reach even more families in need across the country.
“It’s our promise to keep doing what we can to bring about change in their lives.”
Commenting on Sunway’s contribution, MAF Chairman Prof. Datuk Dr. Adeeba Kamarulzaman said, “The foundation is truly touched by Sunway Group’s generous display of compassion towards members of our community.
“Responding to their vulnerability is an integral part of our mission to end AIDS, and a mission that is also aligned with our goal of creating a much more sustainable response to the epidemic.
“We look forward to this continued partnership with Sunway for our work to improve access to antiretroviral drugs for economically disadvantaged patients, especially in rural areas of Sabah and Sarawak.”
The Sunway-MAF partnership began in December 2021 with the arrival of Sunway as an official sustainability partner of MAF.
At the heart of this partnership is the annual Sunway-MAF Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Award and Sunway’s long-term support of MAF’s major projects serving disadvantaged communities living with HIV in Sabah and Sarawak.
Sunway’s various business divisions – Sunway Theme Parks, Sunway Malls, Sunway Property, Sunway Hospitality, Sunway Healthcare Group, Sunway PALS and Sunway Pharmacy – have joined forces with other key partners such as Yayasan Kebajikan Negara, Malaysian Red Crescent Society , Selangor Youth Community, Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya, Mutiara Food Bank and Persatuan Kebajikan Anak Muda Balik Pulau, to distribute essential items over a period of two months – from April to May 2022.
Items included groceries, hand sanitizers, shower gel, vitamin C, face masks, Raya cookies, soy sauce, umbrellas, white coffee, stationery sets and coupons.
#SunwayforGood aims to positively impact millions of people across the country as Sunway approaches 50 years in 2024.
