When Industries slow down , so does the incoming work. In most cases this results in companies having to reduce staffing. This often times can bite you if you get a sudden order rush. However, in our situation it has brought out the best in the staff we have. Everyone has went above an beyond to take on other responsibilities to insure we meet our customer demands. This truly brings out the best in employees and shows their willingness to be part of a team. A quality team that works together will be the winning team. We have that team here at Rayco Steel. When the team works together everyone is on the same level and works to help each other. Where weakness once was is now a strength. With all this being said, our team is here to work with you on any project you may have. We thrive on challenges. There is no job too large or too small. Give us a chance and we will show you what a winning team can do. Thank you all for following Rayco Steel Process. Ed Vanlaningham

Happy New Year everyone. I work for one of the most amazing steel companies in the world right now. Even though I am not in a sales role right now, do not hesitate to reach out to me about your steel/aluminum needs and I will connect you with the right people here at Steel Technologies. Far too often, people limit themselves by their "job description". What if every team member gave a minimum of 1% more every day this year? What kind of impact would that have on your companies bottom line? How would that kind of effort impact the people around you? Positive work ethics are contagious. How can you help someone today? How can I help you this year?Steel Technologies

Are you looking for high volume small parts manufacturing? Then Peninsula Iron Works is not the shop you are looking for. This is something early in my career when I was purely in a sales position I would have never come out and said. It took seasoning and years of operations experience to realize just how detrimental the wrong work can be to a shop. In sales your mind is always going to be attracted to the dollars, but those dollars on that P.O. can be deceiving. With the wrong work you can just as easily find your team paying to do the work you brought in and risk alienating a customer for future business. If you are in sales, especially if you are supporting a job shop take the time to know what your team and infrastructure are set up for. No is not a dirty word, and in a lot of cases that honesty will buy you trust with that customer. They now understand you are willing to turn down dollars when you know it isn't the right fit. Learn your teams competencies and trust in your skills to find the right work. #steel #fabrication #machining #jobshop

The book 'Renaissance of American Steel (1996)' talks about the role good management, risk-taking, and employee responsibility play in building effective steel units. One key firm under discussion is Nucor Corporation.Nucor had a very entrepreneurial and risk taking culture, which served it well. In 1989, it invested $275 Million in "thin-slab casting technology by constructing a one million ton plant at Crawfordsville, Indiana."This technology, called "near net shape casting", allowed Nucor to enter the lower-quality flat rolled sheet with significantly lower costs than that of Integrated producers. Nucor has a history of such 'risk-taking', and while it has made losses here and there, some of these risks have allowed it to make a name for itself. Thin slab casting was new technology and the management did not have success stories to rely on, with the result that it gained a significant pie of the market due to cost advantage.A key point to encourage risk-taking among managers and the workforce, is to not penalize people for losses which were caused due to factors beyond their control.Nucor also banked on production incentives."Employees involved in manufacturing are paid weekly bonuses on the basis of the production of their work group. These bonuses are based upon the amount by which actual results exceed the preset standard for the operation. The plan creates peer pressure for each individual to perform well. No bonus is paid if equipment is not operating, thus creating a strong incentive to keep the equipment in top operating condition. Maintenance personnel and production supervisors are part of the same bonus group and receive the same bonus as the people they supervise."Good management isn't rocket science. As James Todd, who was CEO of Birmingham Steel Corporation (later acquired by Nucor), put it -"I believe in hard work, paying people well for good effort and holding people accountable for their decisions. The key to attaining superior performance is to motivate people to expend high levels of effort to accomplish your goals. Incentive systems are a major part of this, but so is getting to know your employees, understanding their concerns, and securing their trust."#steel#management#employeeengagement#steelindustry#steelsupplier#steelmaking#steelwork#steelworks#steelmanufacturing#steelplant#nucor#greeneconomy#greensteel#incentives

The forces on a bollard tethered to a ship are of such intensity, that if it comes loose there is loss of life and property. And hence, very large bolts. Here at (my hand for context)

As a sales person what gives you confidence? For me, it's knowing that I have an excellent team behind me ready to step up to any challenge I might bring their way. They may not always love it lol, but they step up none the less. I have held witness to many teams where you have the constant sales v. operations mentality. In reality, you can't have one without the other. Without sales, there is no business. Without operations there is no product. To all my sales people out there, show your operations team some genuine support and appreciation for what they do. ESPECIALLY when they might be having some struggles. To all my operations people out there, show your sales team some support and appreciation. ESPECIALLY when things might be a little slow. We carry burdens on both sides, but at the end of the day we need the whole team together to win. Photo - Assembly foreman rolling a 50k lb part smooth as butter. And for the record, it didn't cost me anything to let him know how impressive that was. #steel #fabrication #machining #manufacturing #teamwork #sales #operations

Manufacturing 🏭 Sales 💲 Support 🤝 Production Planning 📝 Termetal Group 🏗️

Wow, the time flies! It is already 3 years, since I've joined the steel industry, and man, oh, man! it was something special...+30% sales growth 📈 +800 succesfull projects 🤝 +2500 sales oportunities 💰 +5000 tons of steel sold 💲 +80000 tons purchased 🛒 +∞ telephone calls ☎ I think this is the proper time to share a few words, about this last, bizzare period... Being agile, as an organization, was needed more than ever. Adjusting to variable business background, uncertainty on the line of supply/demand, triggered by the steel mills green transformation, and still... the worst, was yet to come - lack of steel supplies, due to the ongoing war… Tough times for being new in the business… However, I took famous „never let a good crisis go to waste” quote, deeply to my heart, to face the upcoming problems. I have to say, that never before, we’ve reached that many new potential customers, suppliers and innovative solutions, to somehow cope with the erratic market!I am grateful to Termetal Group, for the trust in me, and to mentor, how to achieve the goals efficiently. There is much more to come and we are ready more than ever, to provide our products up to the highest level! 💪
